Student Code of Conduct
We are committed to providing an inclusive and happy place for all students.
Whilst we acknowledge that students come with different sets of skills, experiences and training, no student should ever feel less appreciated, talented, or deserving of their place at BMT. We ask that students help to maintain and contribute to the inclusive and happy place that is BMT.
Inappropriate behaviour towards other students and teachers will not be tolerated. Students displaying repeated anti-social or violent behaviours will be asked to leave the class and parents will be contacted. We reserve the right to cancel your enrolment should the student continue to exhibit behaviours that do not align with our policies and student code of conduct.
Student Code of Conduct:
Students will represent BMT in a respectful, professional manner at all times.
Students are requested not to talk negatively about BMT or any of its teachers or students at any time to any person. If you are happy with what we do, please tell others. If you are unhappy about something, please approach a designated staff member or use the provided channels for feedback and complaints. It's important for us to be aware of any issues so we can address them.
Students are to wear appropriate clothing and footwear for their chosen classes as outlined in our enrolment pack.
Students must not wear uniforms or branded clothing of another school/studio to class or when representing BMT in public.
Students are to show respect for all BMT staff, volunteers, and students at all times.
We are passionate about inclusivity and encourage students to treat others how they would wish to be treated themselves.
Students are asked to welcome new students with warmness and kindness. We love that you have existing friends at BMT, but we ask that you help to include newcomers with grace and acceptance.
Students are to listen to and follow their teacher's instructions in class. Students should not talk over, interrupt, or oppose another student or teacher.
Students must treat the premises utilised by BMT with respect and clean up after themselves. This applies to all areas, including the foyer, toilets, and halls. Students must not enter any areas not designated for student use, such as staff rooms or storage areas.
Students must not touch or purposefully damage any equipment or property owned by or utlilised by BMT.
Students must not enter the class until instructed by their teacher.
Students are to be ready and dressed appropriately for their class before entering the class.
Students should be aware of personal space and limiting physical contact with other students unless instructed to as part of team-orientated activities or choreography.
Students are to bring a folder with provided materials to every class.
Students are to bring their own water bottle to every class.
Students are not to bring food into the class. Please ensure you have eaten before you arrive.
Attendance Policy
BMT is dedicated to fostering an environment of dedication and consistency to enhance the learning experience for all students. Regular attendance is crucial for student progress and to maintain the integrity of the group dynamics within classes. Therefore, we have established the following attendance policy as an integral part of our Student Code of Conduct:
Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes. In the event of an absence, students or their guardians must notify BMT in advance, providing a valid reason for the absence.
BMT understands that emergencies and unforeseen circumstances can occur. In such cases, we ask for prompt communication from the student or their guardian to discuss the situation and make any necessary arrangements.
Repeated unexcused absences may result in a review of the student's enrolment status at BMT. Consistent attendance is vital for the continuity of learning and to ensure all students receive the full benefits of their education with us.
Students arriving late to class disrupt the learning environment for others. As such, students are encouraged to arrive on time. Persistent lateness will be addressed on a case-by-case basis and may result in a meeting with parents or guardians to find a resolution.
In cases of extended absence due to illness or other significant reasons, BMT will work with the student and their family to provide support and, where possible, alternative arrangements to ensure the student's learning is minimally impacted.
BMT sincerely appreciates your understanding and implementation of the above Student Code of Conduct.
